Hunter Valley Family Tour

The holiday season is now upon us, which means local and overseas family groups setting out to explore Sydney’s regions – why not booking a Hunter Valley family tour with us? The Hunter Valley is first and foremost a wine region, but it’s still an enjoyable and worthwhile destination for groups with young children. There is plenty to keep the little ones occupied on a day trip or during an extended stay.

Needless to say, most kids’ eyeballs bulge at the suggestion of visiting a chocolate shop, and there are a few Hunter Valley Chocolate Company outlets (plus the factory) dotted around the area.

For children who love animals there are a number of wineries with four-legged friends. Lovable cellar door dogs are a feature of many wineries while farmyard animals can be found, and patted, at others, such as at Moorebank Private Vineyard, which is as well-known for its sheep as for its great range of wines and homemade produce. For those looking for native fauna, kangaroos can sometimes be spotted in the open fields and vineyards (although usually when it’s cooler and overcast) and failing that you can take the kids to the Hunter Valley Zoo.

Hunter Valley Gardens hosts a number of special events throughout the year. (Currently, it’s the Christmas Lights Spectacular.) The Hunter Valley Gardens Shopping Village area is also home to Hunter Valley Aqua Golf and Putt Putt, a fun family activity which everyone can have a go at  – but best done before Mum and Dad do too much wine tasting.

The Hunter may be an area known for fine dining and wine appreciation, but it’s still an easy-going, family-friendly destination which can keep all generations happy.
