Do you want to experience Australia’s unique animals roaming free in their natural habitats? Then this wildlife park, near Gosford, is a perfect stop on your Hunter Valley private tour.
One of our most popular additions to our standard Hunter Valley private tour itinerary is the Australia Walkabout Wildlife Park. Located near Gosford in Calga, less than an hour north of Sydney, the park covers over 80 acres of beautiful Australian bush. Here, visitors can enjoy up-close encounters with free-range wildlife, and also observe some less sociable creatures in a protected environment.
Walkabout Wildlife Park is a fantastic place to meet the beautiful and bizarre animals that make Australia so special. From kangaroos and koalas to echidnas, emus and more, many of Australia’s most famous creatures are waiting to say hello!
Meet Australia’s most famous animals
While some animals are provided with enclosures for safety or legal reasons, the park prides itself on allowing most of its residents to wander freely, living as they would in the wild. Visitors have the unique opportunity to observe and interact with these friendly animals, without cages or fences. Some of the park’s star residents, including kangaroos and emus, are especially happy to greet human visitors.
Other free-ranging residents at the park include wallabies and wallaroos, skinks, turtles, pythons, and heaps of birds and frogs. Because the animals are allowed the behave naturally, you never know just who you’ll meet. Every visit is unique!
Special animal encounters and activities
In addition to their residents, the wildlife park offers a range of activities that showcase the highlights of the park. These include animal introductions, indigenous culture talks, and more. Country Trails are regular visitors here, so we can tailor our stop-off here to include an extra special encounter, just for you.
Are you after a unique Aussie experience? At Country Trails, our guests love the koala speed date encounter! We can arrange for you to enjoy a 10-15min, hands-on meeting with this famous animal. One of the park’s rangers will guide you through your personal koala encounter, and answer any questions you might have. It’s a rare experience you won’t want to miss!
