Enjoy a truly unique wine-tasting experience

Our Hunter Valley private wine tours visit some of the most delightful wineries across Pokolbin and the greater Hunter region. Focusing on small, boutique wineries and vineyards, we aim to showcase unique and distinctive wines that only the Hunter can offer.

From the region’s famous Semillon to the lesser-known gems, you will have the opportunity to sample and purchase the wide variety of wines produced in the Hunter. Many are difficult to find elsewhere, and others are only sold here, so they also make fantastic gifts!

With your knowledgeable, experienced guide, you’ll enjoy our private wine tours whether you are a wine connoisseur, a newcomer, or anywhere in between.

Hunter Valley Wine Tours—Standard Itinerary

Below you can review the standard itinerary for our Hunter Valley private wine tours from Sydney. This standard day trip includes:

  • Pickup from Sydney CBD (locations outside Sydney CBD by arrangement)
  • Wine tasting at three or four boutique wineries, one cheese shop (on request), and the option to visit either a micro-brewery or distillery (for vodka, gin and liqueurs)
  • Lunch at your choice of cafe-style eatery or restaurant, or picnic instead if the weather cooperates

Morning activities

Your Hunter Valley wine tour begins with Sydney CBD pickup at 7:45am. We then travel north to the Hunter, taking a coffee break along the way if you like, and arrive at our first winery at approximately 10:15am. Here we sample wines typically found in the Hunter Valley, including Semillon, for which the region is justifiably world-famous.

Next, we stop at a traditional cheese factory where guests can choose to enjoy a sit-down cheese tasting. The sampling plate features four to five artisan cheeses also served with crackers, at a cost of $7.75 per person.

Our next destination is another boutique winery, located in a quiet area of wine country.

Lunch follows, in the central Pokolbin area around the Hunter Valley Gardens. The cafes, restaurants and picnic area offer a wide variety of lunch options for every taste and budget. While lunch is at guests’ expense, Glenn will be happy to detail what’s available here, and make any necessary reservations.

Afternoon destinations

After lunch, we visit our third boutique winery. This visit showcases a lesser-known winemaker, chosen from a number of small, friendly establishments. Distinguished by their low-volume, high-quality production, these wineries produce unique and unusual wines, often with an extra personal touch.

Depending on your tastes, our final stop is either a fourth winery, a microbrewery, or the Hunter Distillery. Guests can either sample a variety of traditional and signature beers, made and bottled on site, or a variety of local spirits (tasting at own cost).

After a full day sampling the delights of the Hunter, we wrap up our tour around 3:45pm. Guests can then relax and chat in air-conditioned comfort as we head back to Sydney, arriving at approximately 6:15pm.
